Frequently Asked Questions

We hope these questions help you in your understanding of our church and your quest to finding the body of Christ. If not, please contact us.

  • Is the Greater Wilmington Church for me?

We want to think so! No matter who you are, where you are from, where you live, or where you are spiritually, we’re convinced that once you spend time with us, you’ll start to feel at home and want to know more about our congregation and the Lord. You’ll find, in the shadow of the cross of Christ and the bright light of His resurrection, we all have more to unite us than to divide us.

  • Can you tell me a little bit about the Greater Wilmington Church?

We enjoy being Christians and living as brothers and sisters in the family of God. We worship Him together by our lives, in small groups, and individually. That means you’ll see many people at our Sunday worship services, but you can worship with a handful of Christians in our small groups we call “Family Groups”. We love being together in any setting and we know that meeting the needs of others is often best accomplished as a church of “small groups in a big world.” We most likely have a small group that meets near you.

  • What are your services like?

On Sundays, we sing to God and one another, we take communion together, and we hear inspiring and practical messages from the Bible. Please check our calendar for the most up-to-date information.

  • How do I become a member?

We believe that the church is a body of believers who have become true disciples or “followers/learners” of Jesus. If you want to be a part of this body, the first step is to study the bible to find out what it means to follow Christ. To set up a personal bible study or to attend a group bible study in your neighborhood, contact a member of our staff or the small group closest to you.

  • What is expected of first-time visitors?

You’ll find people dressed like you whether that means shorts and a t-shirt or a suit and tie. Sing loudly, quietly, or simply listen. You are welcome to take communion with us, if you understand it’s purpose and significance. If it’s your first time, we hope to get to know you better and visa-versa. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask more questions and get more information as you get to know us.

  • What kind of church is this?

We strive to understand the balance and purpose of scripture, prayer, relationships with each other, and the Holy Spirit within us to allow God’s grace and truth to transform our lives and the world in which we live. We are a non-denominational, independent church within an interdependent worldwide brotherhood with whom we are unified in doctrinal matters of salvation. We are committed to a biblical model of leadership “until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”. In recognition of that, we believe that Biblically working cooperatively with followers of Christ will bring about God’s plan toward our shared goal of evangelizing the world much more effectively.

We are...

a diverse group of disciples of Jesus that strive to discover the love of God, connect to his family, and experience life to the full in Christ.
