Benevolence Policy Pre-Requisite
For a request of financial assistance to be accepted it must be made by an active member of Greater Wilmington Church for him/herself, a regular non-member attendee, or community member.
A person will be considered an “active member” when they: attend Sunday services on a regular basis (no less than two times per month), contribute financially to the mission of Greater Wilmington Church, andparticipate in midweek gatherings (whole church/growth growths).
Benevolence Policy Stipulations
• No cash disbursements.
• No retroactive reimbursements will be granted.
• Financial assistance can only be requested for:
• Home Utility (Electric, Gas, Water) ‐ This request will only be considered for the before
mentioned utilities and must be accompanied by the bill. We will only pay directly to the utility company.
• Medication - Emergency money for medication for a limited time as determined by the Benevolence Committee.
• Transportation/Gas ‐ This request is granted on rare occasion, but if approved, a member of the Benevolence Committee will meet the applicant at a local gas station and provide a tank of gas. No gas cards will be issued.
• Food‐ In case of emergency and upon approval, a food gift card will be issued to the applicant.
• Applications will be reviewed, and an answer will be given within 48 hours.
• Application must be signed by applicant and spouse (when applicable) In an effort to ensure all parties involved are aware of the request, no application will be processed without signatures from both husband and wife.
• Exceptional Circumstances
The Benevolence Committee may determine that an applicant’s need is “exceptional” and thus requires ongoing support from the Benevolence Fund and/or other resources.
